About Us

Welcome to Poeticous, a place for poetry and a blogging platform for poets.
My name is Yensy James Hall and I became a poet the first week of October of 2011. I'm a software engineer making a living coding somebody else's $#!+, but when I'm not doing that, I'm usually thinking or working on something that I find important.
Poeticous is where my geeky flair meets my right hemisphere. I built it for a couple of reasons: First, I needed a place to hang a few poems I had written and I couldn't find one specifically designed for poetry. Second, as I became more and more interested in poetry, I found myself jumping from place to place looking for poems, recitations, analyses, biographies, translations—you name it, so I thought it would be nice to have it all in one location. A third reason, that emerged and has become the most important, is that I really enjoy doing it.
I also hope that Poeticous is useful to others. It's misteriously comforting to build things that other people use, so this website is yours too. Browse Poeticous to absorve poetry or register to post your creations, and don't hesitate to let me know how I can make it better by sending me an email to .
Search Tips
I have programmed a few search operators that allow you to refine your search. The operators are:
| in:en => | Search for poems in English |
| in:es => | Search for poems in Spanish |
| is:featured => | Search for poems that are featured in Poeticous (recommended for being special in some way) |
| has:video => | Search for poems that have Youtube videos |
| has:analysis => | Search for poems that have an analysis |
| has:translation => | Search for poems that have a translation |
| is:pro => | Search only for poems written by classic or profesional poets |
For example, a search for
love has:analysis has:translation is:featured
will yield all the poems that contain the word "love", that have an analysis, a Spanish translation, and are featured in Poeticous.
The End
If you've written at least one poem, you're a poet, and if you've read a poem for pleasure more than once, you enjoy poetry. In either case, you're in the right place. Enjoy!

Buy me a cup of coffee...As you can imagine, putting together Poeticous is a lot of work, and there's still a lot to be done. If you’d care to buy me a cup of coffee to encourage my efforts and help me stay awake in the long nights, well – thank you! |
