Step By Step

The wind on his face, it feels colder,
He grows older every day, with many wishes thrown away.
As the shadow he creates, as his withered lips run dry, he stares into the light.
He was hoping for an answer though the god’s not there to see,
His wish was pure and simple but his heart was too weak, to tell the truth, what’s the use,
What’s the use.

Hardened chest, too strong to handle,
The urge to give, but you can’t feel.
The choice beyond the hill, with simple steps to master,
The faith in this new sight of a happily ever after.

The bitter eyes, they grow softer,
His eyes are shades of grey, though he knows he can be saved.
As he wonders through the fields, as he finds it hard to breathe, he asks for relief .
The wish that was his notion to make all the words unspoken,
The faith hadn’t fallen when his hardened shell released, he began to see, he will be free,
He will be free.

Hardened chest, too strong to handle,
The urge to give, but you can’t feel.
The choice beyond the hill, with simple steps to master,
The faith in this new sight of a happily ever after.
