Hello and welcome. I don't know what brought you to my profile, but I do hope you enjoy my few pieces. I lack form and style, and could care less about using either in my poetry to be quite frank. I write my poetry from the heart (sorry for the -true- cliché), it is my escape, and I do hope that my words can reach others. But that's enough about me, take a look at a few of my poems if you so desire and send me critiques/commentary if you feel inclined to do so. Thanks for considering viewing my page as being worth your time.
Most of what I write or enjoy reading has a significant amount of word relationships and phrasing that evoke imagery. Whether it's prose on people or life or metered rhyming verses I find that the way they read should have not just metaphor, word plays, and all other typical "poetic" usage, but should also have a visual quality that is some what like painting or illustration. I'm not saying I do this well in my own writing but I'm merely stating what I am going for as an artist. Like anything creative, the more of yourself you put into it and dedicate time to, the better it ultimately becomes. The collection of poems that are subtitled Nest in the Black Tree is a series of concept pieces. The setting is in the Bad Lands (purgatory). When a "Soul" has been born it belongs to the Watch Tower(God). Once one is created the Clock Maker creates a "vessel"(a human body). The Time Keeper starts the Heart-Break-Timer and this would be the life one is given from begining, life, old age, and the end. When the timer runs out the soul must be delivered back to the Watch Tower, but to do so is tasked by the Sprinter(an angel). The Sprinter takes the soul across the Bad Lands running as God's Speed. The Bad Lands are filled by an evil race known as the Wretched. The Wretches are ruled by the war machine Brontus Singlairn. Brontus wants the souls the Sprinters carry to turn them from a life into a Wretch(demon). The Poems are free-verse prose left open to to the imagination of the reader and to the foundation of the story. "Space, Universe, Stars" are part of the idea of creating a setting, being that this is a place of the in "between", and also is a way to give a little more poetic depth. One day I would hope to get the "The Nest and the Black Tree" published. This is where you, the reader, comes in to give me comments and ideas for this evolving story. —Nicholas Gress —Saidwhattha
“My art and poetry has been a well kept secret most of my life. It has been my best friend, my confidant, my security blanket, my therapy. Writing saved my life at a time when I was drowning in my own tears. I haven’t had any formal training. I just enjoy the arts. If I’m not painting I’m writing so, I think it’s safe to say that I’ve found my voice.”
There is a great, black, vacuous space. Within this darkened void lies all manner of gaseous forms and material substances endlessly swirling in a constant state of both perfect chaos and immaculate harmony. But even the most vividly descriptive imagery can only at best scratch the surface of such a mysteriously complicated thing. Such is the vain attempt to accurately depict the sheer complexity of a person within a paragraph. I can never fully express all that I am through written word alone, for just as the Universe must be experienced in order to be fully understood, so must I.
I write 'Down to Earth' Poems about things that I see everyday. My poems can be taken in any way though I find my inspiration stems from reading about World Problems and Social differences. My ideas are fueled from daily disappointments over-hearing or reading about unnecessary Social categorizations like Race, Ethnicity, Class, Gender, Sexual Orientation and the Public Self. I write to bring light upon a conforming Society with many faults. I want change.

Personally my inspiration came from Tupac Shakur! This man was a great lyricist and a poet. He could get his message across with one song full of metaphors and a powerful message! Poetry is stories of all aspects all expressing the deeper connection to humanity, as well as the planet. Thank you Pac for being strong lead in my life 🤞🏽
I was born in Alabama. Lived the first 9 years of my life in Florida, but then moved back to Alabama after my grandmother passed away to live in her house. I've been here ever since and I absolutely love it. I am married to a wonderful man who is my best friend. I'm surrounded by my family and friends and beautiful nature. I am a follower of Christ. I've always loved to write. When I was little, I would write my parents little notes and slide them underneath the door of whatever room they were in. I just loved to touch people through my words. Verbally and on paper. When I became a teenager, I started to write random poetry for fun, but also for school. I realized that it wasn't homework for me to write, it was a joy. My poetry streak really took off at the age of 15. Now, having recently turned 30, I have been through a lot in the past decade and have not written as much as i used to. Ups and downs, highs and lows, defeats and victories...you name it. I've felt a lot of different emotions and thought many thoughts. And I've composed quite a few poems and written many songs through it all. So, this is my place to share them with the world, to touch others through my words. I hope they mean something to you. Thank you.

I hope my Poetry lights up someone's day or helps them in some other way, Because the world passes you by so fast that it could lead some people astray.

Namaste, Although I am now residing in sunny Florida, I grew up in Queens, New York. I am the eldest daughter of Jamaican, West Indian immigrants. We were a lively family, five siblings altogether with plenty of love and joviality to go around. From early on, I loved creating stories. My brothers and sisters also keenly enjoyed listening to them. But, being the natural artist, I preferred to retreat into the silence of my room surrounded by my dolls, where we would embark on all sorts of imaginative and adventurous tales. My siblings would listen with their ears glued to the bedroom door, occasionally a giggle of delight escaped from the other side of the door. This interest in story telling gradually metamorphosed into the art of penning poetry. Over the years I have written many poems. The fascinating thing about the imaginative process that I've observed, is that there seems to be some sort of bridge that connects us to the creative source. This is similar to what I experienced in my childhood, a quiet space within, beyond me where creative ideas flow endlessly. On another note, I am also an artist. But, LOL, all of my paintings tell a story too. My work is a visual and poetic diary of my spiritual journey. From the highest peaks in the Himalayas to many of the sacred ashrams in holy India I have been blessed with the opportunity to journey through that divine land eleven times. My spiritual quest began on June 6, 1970 with the birth of my daughter. During the birth I had an amazing out-of-body-experience which catapulted me out of ordinary three dimensional awareness into an astounding, metaphysical reality which I know survives and surpasses death, misery, joy, materialism and all that is dualistic and worldly. A space of being in which Pure Love, Life and Light exists Eternally. This event inspired me to explore the intriguing inner realms of Self through Yoga, Meditation, Rosicrucianism and other spiritually laden paths. I have written two books. The first, "Sai Rapture, The Ecstatic Journey of a Modern Day Gopi " portrays my spiritual journey. The second book, "108 Bhakti Kisses, The Ecstatic Poetry of a Modern Day Gopi" is a garland of poems celebrating the divine in everything.
