Dreams End

For my cousin, brother, and best friend, Jeremy. May he rest in peace. Missing him everyday.

Joy,
light,
happy moments,
big smiles,
comforting arms,
blissful dreaming,
I’m content,
but eventually,
all dreams end.
Waking up,
hollow feelings,
realizing your dreams just that.
Little brother,
gone forever,
this world can’t bring him back.
Death,
sorrow,
angry moments,
promises you don’t believe.
Knowing you can’t just lay here,
not knowing all this day will bring.
Day is gone,
time keeps moving,
struggling to fall asleep.
Joy,
light,
happy moments,
big smiles,
comforting arms,
blissful dreaming,
I’m content,
but eventually,
all,
dreams,
end.

(2012)

I wrote this poem soon after Jer died but I didn't post it. It's sad, but of course the majority of my poetry is so... yeah. But when I first wrote this I wrote it with a vision of no hope left in the world. Through the last year though I have come to the realization that one day, the joy and happiness I wrote in this poem as a dream will come to light. Someday, though I hope it is years to come, I will die and be able to see my brother and best friend again because of the Plan of Salvation. (if you don't know what that is you should ask some LDS missionaries because they can explain it a heck of a lot better than I can) This dream won't end, despite the words that you may be about to read. I still love this poem. Even if I don't feel that way anymore, I did at one point, and I'm sure many people have, do, or will feel that way at some point in their lives. I've been Mormon all my life, but it's because of the church that I can be happy now despite the heartaches I have sustained. I love the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints more than anything and the comfort that it gives me is the best blessing I could ask for.
