It seems like years
But in reality
And it’s only been a week

I had left on a journey
To meet someone I never get to see
Surgery
Soon to come
And then a broken heart

It’s typical of me
To put my own pain before theirs
And selfishly
I rise above what they have to bear

Don’t ever let go
Just keep holding on
Let the devil know
That you’re not done

A simple prayer could be
The cure for deathly certainty
If we would just take a step
And lay down what pride we have left

I know there’s more to life than mine
Yours will be the one to touch mine

Don’t ever let go
Just keep holding on
Let the devil know
That you’re not done
