Somniferous Almond Eyes
Somniferous said “hello”, as she gently wiped my nose
Dried my tears and asked me how I’d been
I said,
“I’m oh so tired of wasting in sin, The underworld has got me by the ankle and i can’t quite keep my breath. And I’ve been sad for an example, I guess I am feeling less.”
She touch my forehead and i let out a yawn
Her milky sap was soon to be drawn
‘Oh papaver You sing so sweetly in my ear and with out you
I would never sleep. ’
I coughed quite deep
and began to cry
“Somniferum will you bid me die”
“Your not the one” she said quite rye
Not the one, what could this mean
Perhaps somniferous had already bid me dream
And in my sleep she bid me lie
but in the morn I would die
“Stop thinking child, you will become weak”
She spoke in a way that made me meek
“Open your mouth as my breast seep”
Opiate nectar.... and i never felt better.
I now, was rushed in a dream...
Flower stands but pods will dance
and seeds will cast a deep romance
and in my thoughts i soak it all
hoping that i never stop the fall.
Like alice down the rabbit hole
Poppy kneads at my soul
and Somniferous will never leave me far behind
Only make me blind, and if i am hurt, if my family would die
If my life would shatter right before mine eye
Papaver would make it clear, and i would not shed one single tear.
And this, it soothes me deeply.
Papaver Somniferous is the name of a beautiful wonderful flower which just so happens also contain one of the most addictive and deadly substances on the planet... while it is also such a relief to those that use it it will likely always be revered by some, especially those of the poet breed.
