Reciprocating love

Crowns of glory He surrendered
His robe of authority He set aside
His golden scepter, He left behind
To serve humanity in its darkest state.
They hailed Him King in courts above
For eternity past, they echoed His Majesty
The plan was laid, He had to leave
Prepared for Him was a stable in place of a palace
And all He received from the Father, He gave to me

Servanthood as the order of the day
The Master toiled on for weary humanity
Teaching and preaching, befriending the poor
Mending the brokenhearted and setting free
The fallen legions captives
Creator of the universe yet a servant to man
A king in the heavenly courts but humbled and benignant
In the realm of sinners.
Oh what magnificent splendour surrendered for our sake
His footprints of service remain behind
For me to follow just where He lead,
Into the homes of broken humanity and into palaces of fallen kings
Serving them salvation from the Master’s hand
Helping them experience freedom from bondage
Oh what a thrill to be a tool in the Almighty’s hand
And serve Him daily with a smile on my face and a song in my heart.
