Why So Soon?

Why So Soon?

It was a beautiful afternoon in the twin cities
As the sun glowed the sky
Youngsters crowded the streets as school buses dropped them off
Children ran into parents’ arms with big smiles on their faces
As they whispered, “Mommy, I missed you. Daddy, I missed you.”

Suddenly, it all changed.
Money became the root of evil.
As communities sobbed
Their hearts beating with hate
And their eyes bleeding with tears
They wonder why
Why so soon?
Why him?

A young child with a bright future
Big dreams and humble beginnings
A young child who inspired his peers
Who many loved and adored
Smart, determined, and Intelligent
A young child whose smile lit up a room full of strangers.

Clenching his casket as her body trembled
His mother noticed the smile on his face
The smile that had always brought joy to her
He had that smile
When she first brought him into this world
As he lay motionless with a smile on his face
She stood in disbelief

Hoping to feel his heart beat
Hoping to see his eye’s open
Hoping it was just a dream
She whispered his name, Barway into air.

As her heart beat with grief.
And her eye’s bled with tears
She wondered why
Why, Pierre Collins?
Why did you murdered your son?

As she leaned over  to him a kiss for the last time
The moon drifted behind the cloud and darkness set in.
Thunder rumbled in the distance as the trees danced in the wind
Rain poured as the doves flew through storm of lights by the caption:
Gone But Never Forgotten.
Rest in peace, Barway Collins.
