Hostage
His scream shakes me up,
like nothing ever had before.
He’s waiting for his salvation,
and they’re coming back for more.
What do they want from us,
and what are we doing here?
Their torture has scarred us
and left us paralyzed with fear.
His eyes look straight into mine,
hoping I can end his pain.
But no matter what I do,
my efforts will be in vain.
He grips my hand in his,
making sure that I’m all right.
We have to work together,
and not give in without a fight.
