the words every girl wants to hear

you take my hand in yours
run your fingers up my arms,
tracing the scars,
the ones I made
from where I cut myself.

why I would deliberately
hurt myself,

to Homecoming

three years younger than I am.
my parents would never approve,

several times.

mini golf,

and now Halloween parties.
