Defeated

It’s as if the stars fell from the sky, and in the darkness I lost my way,
I thought I was strong enough to get through the worst kind of day.

Life had been tough several times before,
Like an unstoppable force, I could kick down any door.

Being broke or losing pride hadn’t slowed me down a bit.
Not to mention I had always been a total misfit.

Rare in kind and a breed unknown,
In a world full of people I felt all alone.

I shut the world out for  fear of rejection,
No wonder I completely lost my direction.

My soul was as beautiful as my heart,
I was graceful, quick witted, and smart.

I gave my love to a man that sucked my soul dry,
Who would have thought of this broken heart I would die.

Air was leaving my lungs, my heart had stopped it’s beat,
This would be her final, unexpected defeat.
