A Life Worth Fighting for

I turned on the news today and saw that another person has lost their friend, their brother, their son.
Another young man brought to his knees by the barrel of a trigger happy gun
Yet again,  life taken before it had a chance to begin
And, what for?
The pride, the territory, the power falsified by soul-searching men
It’s not too late to throw the flag, to avoid the heartache derived from this camouflaged civil war
Everyone’s fighting this battle with no clue what we’re fighting for
We cling desperately to hope, praying for our eyes to glance upon another day
But will there ever be a change, or a miracle to rid us of this self-inflicted pain?
