My Father is a Spider

My Father is a spider.
Not the kind with venom. But similar in how he makes webs that entangle whole families of flies. My father is different than the rest of my family because we are not spiders with a web of lies.

We were stuck in his web for many years before we broke free. I grew up not understanding abuse and wishing I would become an adult sooner because I wanted to escape my “home.” So I drank alcohol until I couldn’t see anymore. I thought making life complicated was what made children into adults quicker.
My father who is a spider displayed lies like these. And now what does he have?
Only himself.
A whole lie of his own.
His web.
