Life is a race

Life is a race wider than space,
longer than you can trace but
still we run with firm pace.
What keeps me going?
God’s mercy and grace
oh, how he wipes the tears from my face
Tears of pain; Tears of sorrow
Tears of shame; Tears of hate
He truly is my fate

Life is a race, I look to my right
I see my brothers; I see my sisters
I preach to the listeners
with words I paint colour pictures
I look to my left
I see hate; I see shame
I see my name in burning flames

Life is still the same
I have dreams, I have aims
Pen on my right hand, I will fight
this till the end
I go to war with God in my first line of defence
I work hard to get nothing but cents
Wait, does that make sense?
Let me go back to my common sense
I use my sixth sense to detect suspence
I see them smile, I see pretence
I write to express, im stressed but well dressed
Life is a mess hard to figure out like chess
Life is a race..
