When I first heard
“The Blackbird,”
In the middle
Of night,
I was just thirteen.
Such sadness, trouble,
In my family at the time...
My parent’s divorcing,
My body in between,
A girl and a woman.
I believe the song
Pointed, to a melody
That plays outside,
Our human story...
One we seldom hear,
A symphony of sound,
The spiritual side
Of our existence,
It gave some hope,
Some light,
In the dark night.

After hearing a favorite song and remembering a difficult time, a poem came out
