Rolling painted deserts
of the west.
Shrub bushes dot
sloping hillsides.
Relentless sun heats up
the sand.
Indian tribes honor
this land.
A single hawk rides
the wind.
Ghosts of ancestors abide
inside canyon walls.
The future dances
with the shake
of their bones.

After a ride through the desert which is haunting and beautiful at the same time.
