the red ball bounce
the red ball bounce
such a clever catapult
pray me over
walls and out-of-bounds
I call the bluff
it’s steep
got me sleeping alone
I put up my walls
to keep up my walls
you’re doubling over
and back
thinking about the tin
and clang
of January
that’s when the pipes bust
that’s when bankrupt
reaches in for identity and
how often we called ourselves by
each other’s names
