Skyscrapers

With each brick and beam, I start to elevate.

I motivate myself and start moving forward.

With torn hands, blood sweat and tears, I wipe my brow and I keep moving on.

With each step I secure each bolt and nail, I wipe my brow and I keep moving forward.

With all that I have built, I can’t stop now,  I wipe my tears, stretch my legs and I keep moving on.

With hours past and distance gained, I wash the blood off my hands and then I carry on.

With heavy hands, exhaustion and regret, I can’t let my skyscraper come tumbling down.

With each level that I have gained, errors that I’ve made, I read my plans and I keep moving on.

With each step that I take, I see my skyscraper take shape.

I can’t stop now, I’m reaching hallowed ground.

Now that years have passed, I stand atop my skyscraper looking down.

In retrospect, I’m filled with no regret

When everything ends, I’d take a deep breath find a brick and build it all again.
