I know my place

You are only there when I fall to pieces
You come by and pick up every shard
You manage to put them back together but never exactly the same way
Each time there are more cracks; a mosaic of bad choices
But you put me back up on that pedestal and walk away again
I guess you think I will be okay up there, out of reach
As soon as the wind blows greater than a gentle breeze I will fall
If you would stay you could catch me before I shatter
It would be so much simpler; you wouldn’t have to sort out the puzzle
You could just put me back in my place with no trouble at all but with just a little care
My place is not on a pedestal; my place is right beside you
Where we can lean on each other, never falling to pieces
Making a mosaic together with our colourful love and at eye level
where everyone can see.
