How long how far will we go?
Putting on a show
Acting so aloof
Denying all the proof
We wine and dine
We fuck so divine
We do this for a year
And only out of fear
We never share
How we truly care
That there is an undercurrent of love
We both try to shove
Back down in our soul
Afraid of the toll
A real relationship would take
If we cross the line it might break
The illusion we created
That we are so elated
To be this liberated
Having attached no strings
Not binding each other with rings
How long how far will we go?
Before we both know
That between us is becoming real
Love we can‘t deny we feel

That we have to face the fate
We are not above our innate
Basic humanity won’t be denied
True love can’t be untied
That’s what my mind is telling me
But my ego’s yelling let me be free
Don’t take me back to that stifling, suffocating
Relationship, marriage, grating eventually hating
The way you walk and talk and eat
The way you chew to a beat
And you will need to remind
Me that not long ago I was blind
To your little eccentricities and ways
That once you had me in a daze
That once I held you up high
On a pedestal with stars in my eyes
How long how far will we go?
If we let true loves garden grow
If we have courage to change this path we’re on
Embrace each other fully letting go of the con
That there’s nothing more than lust
Between you and I we must
Release our fears that restrain
Allow ourselves to maybe feel pain

But the gain if it all works out
Would release us from this delusional doubt
That if we submit to our heart
It will somehow tear us apart
What we’ve tried to hold onto will shatter
I to you and you to me will no longer matter
That we will look back with regret
Thinking if we just didn’t let
Love come between us.
