A Tale of Two Ships

A Greek Mythology

Out into the jade so vast
The sloping waves all set afire
Glowing in the dawning light
As Poseidons romantic attire

Pray not his anger rise
From the depths below the sea
A ship out on the horizon
and then another ship I see

For two ships there in the open
Within the foam and brine
One sweetly name as Amphitrite
And the other given Delphine

They coursed throughout the oceans
One so rapid, one so free
She took a turn as Caspian
And found the seventh sea

He onward into fleeting sunset
Onward to the shore of song
A call from the deep startled his path
Plunging deep, drawing sails along

Down and down and further he dove
Past the palace of the merman triton
Past the borders of the singing nymphs
Bare behind their crimson curtain

He entered a cave of a sea faring God
And yawning and deep came the sea
upside down pacing his cavernous walls
constantly sneering “bring her back to me.”

And the Delphine ascended swiftly
With influence and persuasive power
He fetched the fair Amphitrite
Obtaining and returning her
to his cold and sunken tower

They entered the cave of the sea faring God
And yawning and deep came the foamy brine
Him hovering among the cavernous walls
All the way singing “you have made her mine”

when writing it was not just the actually mythologies that were on my mind..I sometimes saw A pretty way of saying a ship sinking to the depths of the ocean..like a pair of ships one goin and then the other...a victim of an ocean storm or a battle on water...the water still and beautiful at first...one ship an explorer one for glory...so so.... Poseidon symbolizing of course the arrogant and cruel sea..taking them down different ways...the two ships once together now at war...OR it can be a bit of a Romantic yet possessive love poem involving the darker but in love side of Poseidon wanting the fair ship and employing another “male” ship to fetch her to him...:he who is in a cavern under the ocean that seemingly under water as he can glide up and down the walls... still interestingly ships beneath water is death for them .. so it does have a sense of Hades and the lady of the underworld who he steals from the seasonal world above and she does not die but becomes lady of the underworld... I was so young when I wrote this I’m sure I had that in mind without realizing it .. Greek mythology .. but here I didn’t see the ships being destroyed and in fact very fantasy driven as he seems to swim beneath the ocean to the very depths... but I also never saw it from the beautiful amphitrites view ... it never says whether she wants to be taken there or not only that she’s beautiful and sought after... more an object or ship..not exactly negativity ... but the way men speak of ships .. sailors.. as a beautiful, loving and living woman who protects them and they take care of her but in a sense still a beautiful object to look at .. but also has a scary power over them...even a motherly protection or a need to get back to her like a lover...OR it can be taken as complete fantasy ...the ships actually being alive in a sense...not symbolic of humanoid mythologies ...its up to the reader....This is a very old poem on mine ....its not exactly my greatest in my eyes...but i feel my idea was there but i could not exactly have it fully realized....but I've yet to revisit it or revise it...its kinda one of my only poems I've literally not touched since i was 15 or 16 ...so its a bit of a time capsule to me...I just saw it on my first page again... came to read it and liked it a lot more... so I added more notes of course ....

Note ** all my poems are copyrighted and have codes to prove ownership ... While I doubt anyone here does this ..still have to say Don't steal other people's work wether a poem is good enough or not .... It's personal and directly speaks from the soul of the writer and to take their work and say it's yours ..it's wrong and unnatural ..your stealing a peice of them ...it's nothing to do with money or rights...it's so much more than that...its happened to me .. It can happen to anyone .. It hurts and I always speak out against it even if to most it seems pretentious...
