R.M.S Misfortune (Titanic)

A Lesson in a Tragedy

They watched it from what fortunes mercy had gifted them
As gods own ship went black, its many eyes blinked then shut forever dim
Bright only were the eyes of those left afloat
Those wearing their wealth in half filled boats
Safe and dry within their furs and hopes
Atop and against the icy water
Cries followed this for fathers sacrificed
For babe and wife and daughter
They watched in horror as the ship began to bend
As it took on water and sunk low at one end
Crawled did time until, its mighty beak raised licking the stars
Tasting at the clear and crisp night set aglow from afar
Then with a sickening snap, its mighty length fell divided..
And any soul within was a soul thru which terror tore
Before moments were they drowned in a modern dreadful lore
Soon after one twin rose again in the calm before
Its final descent into a grave lost to the living eye
Eternally shrouded in the depths, swallowed in an oceans sigh
A shriek there followed that in tomorrows ages did engrave
Right until when the silence called within a silence they’d forever tell
After the ship ascended up as the dead from the grave
Then plummeted like a demon into a fluid frozen hell
And there whispered among and upon the chill and air
On fog from the mouths many whys and endless prayers
And those solid within the waves were not unlike those in thaw
The Carpathian, their savior watched on in shock and awe
After sheltering this humbled and sleepless crowd
No comfort found they in questions spoke aloud
And etched forever on the victims of disasters whim
Was there upon that ill-fated deck when sang that final hymn
Upon the lurid night that thru played a melancholy violin
Slowly and all at once a tale of woe awoke so grim
And there weeped the first true tear that frozen silent fell
And upon every survivors mind was the same faces deathly pale
A tiny hand in a bigger grasp that no time nor miracle did prevail
Safe hidden by poverty, locked in Resistance, behind chivalries phony veil
In that morning sun there sat the villain white like an angel upon the sea
Though when one day it melted and trauma faded all that left then might agree
The true villains and certain heroes shown thru such tragedy
Such frigid chains of society shaken off and be free to flee

A vain goddess of caution none, who took no humility
So Poseidon raving, gave no mercy
No slave to arrogance to be rewarded
Never again could a vessel been so shamefully scarred
Refuted, punished and shunned an eternity than that nautical beauty marred

...i wrote this last night right off the cuff ...i admit its been a while since i wrote of an entire new idea with nothing from an old poem or scratch...a new subject completely ..a concrete one...which i need more of ...i am a bit frustrated that while reading it after i was finished i realized i had used the metaphor of the sinking ship or island into a fireless hell...in my poem the lost ones...about atlantis ...so i made that part a little less of a punch and put it in the background instead of the front like it was in Atlantis...and hopefully it can be overlooked...but i can't take it out ..its to important to the imagery ..but i do so despise repeating metaphors and imagery...shows my lack of imagination...anyways..im fairly happy with this poem other than that...its a solid return to writing new poetry i think...i mean hopefully someone will be moved by it so i can call it somewhat successful...not only do i capture the night and the trauma i end with the punch of the lesson that should be learned from it...the arrogance of the ship..the lack of humility...the social classes and the fact some were figured better to live than others...an unfortunate lesson learned or not...hopefully...anyways...please do let me know if i was successful in getting the point across and if not, please criticize and tell me what i can work on...either is always good to hear...its a win both ways...when someone tells me a mistake i can log it and add it to the other things to do not do.. in order to create a better poem...i do not look at poetry quite as scientifically and logically as i just made it sound...im just passionate about it...

Note ** all my poems are copyrighted and have codes to prove ownership ... While I doubt anyone here does this ..still have to say Don't steal other people's work wether a poem is good enough or not .... It's personal and directly speaks from the soul of the writer and to take their work and say it's yours ..it's wrong and unnatural ..your stealing a peice of them ...it's nothing to do with money or rights...it's so much more than that...its happened to me .. It can happen to anyone .. It hurts and I always speak out against it even if to most it seems pretentious...
