Eve

Eve bit the apple so she bears the burden of the world.
She hears it’s cries and its laughter.
She feels the spirit of the Four winds.
In one hand she cradles faith and in the other doubt.
You can see the mystery of life in her eyes.
I ask you is this a burden?
To not know what happens next?
The burden is heavy but her heart is light.
She shifts the load from one realm to another.
Sometimes using more energy.
Sometimes less.
Was she really seduced by the serpent?
Or did she simply exercise free will?
In either case I am grateful for her.
I think we all are.

This is an archetypal poem about a real person.
