The Music Box

Losing her glasses on the ice, she skates undaunted in the rink.
She floats around the central hub free from other people.
The inner circle becomes her inner sanctum.
She is in the eye of the storm where everything is calm.
Meanwhile other skaters orbit around her as if attracted to her gravity.
Like asteroids on one of Saturn’s rings.
She glides gracefully like a figurine in a music box.
The lid is open and the music is playing.
To watch her is to be charmed by her.
She does a graceful figure eight which happens to be the sign for infinity.
Ironic because the wonder of this moment is eternal.

This is an archetypal poem about an actual person.
