All Wrapped Up

I  am a happy ending
Wrapped in a tragedy
But you simply won’t take the time
To see the good in me

The ribbon may be tattered
The wrapping a bit torn
But inside something beautiful
Is lost and so forlorn

It can be called a moment
To me, a yesterday
Let all time be time that’s well spent
Lest I wither away

Take time to look inside me
And perhaps, fill your cup
If you peel the wrapping, you’ll see
I’m more than all wrapped up

(2015)

The first four stanzas have existed for years. The latter stanzas were merely an expansion of a previous notion.
