Happiness

I sometimes ask myself, are we ever truly happy?
Some people will instantly say yes
Others will just stare at you blankly and ponder their lives
And the ones that look down and sit quietly, like me, know there is no happiness

There’s always something to complain about
Or something just feels wrong
You look in the mirror and you are disgusted by your reflection
Yet you tell yourself you are happy

It’s all a lie we play with our brains
To get along with people we don’t like
To try to impress the ones we do like
And to smile in the face of our enemies

We think we are happy but we are not
We are just the pawns in his game
Trying to survive yet another day, happily
