Andrew Jackson Jihad

A found poem. These words are not my own. They are taken from songs on the album "Christmas Island" by the band, Andrew Jackson Jihad.

The older I get the more articulate I am at whining.
What is the wind saying?
Hey dude, I hate everything you do but i’m trying really hard to not hate you.
Hating you won’t make you suck any less.
Hating you won’t make me suck any less.
It’s not our world and it never was,
and that’s not our problem,
that’s not our problem
anymore.
I can’t handle astounding works of beauty.
I think I like my pretty pretty ugly.
What do I bring to the table when all we eat is desperate?
Like a God begging to be murdered.
I’m a blank page in a notebook waiting
to be filled with countless drawings of cocks.
I gave into the needs of all my masters.
How can I learn when I make my body into violence?
There’s a gerbil in the microwave, a baseball bat in everyone.
Helen Keller to the bullshit, break through your isolation!
They found a weird calling card in a puddle of body parts
inside a bowl of angel hearts that the children were eating.
Understanding life is meaningfully worthless,
the world was born to kill all the Jesuses.
How can I live without ever knowing the beauty of forgiveness?
I’m gonna miss this place just like a vein inside my heart.
