Because hyper segregation
Because community divestment
Because profit motive
Because corporate greed
Because Citizens United
Because Capitalism
Because addiction to the acquisition of power
Because unchecked power
Because lack of accountability
Because binary thinking
Because desperation isn’t empathized with
Because apathy
Because the NRA
Because guns
Because the cozy relationship between the American government and its defense industry
Because war for profit
Because Military-Industrial Complex
Because the privileged with their eyes closed and hearts hardened
Because rugged individualism
Because privilege
Because oppression
Because socio-economic status
Because Industrialism
Because mass production
Because over consumption
Because unequal distribution
Because refusal to lower standards of living
Because accumulation
Because ambition
Because discontentment
Because myth of scarcity
Because the idea of rightness
Because lack of humility
Because normalized insanity
Because America is an oligarchy
Because the American Oligarchy is more concerned with covering up the problems they created than fixing them.
