Empower the Victim

I am the victim
because I think I am.
Others see me as weak
because I see myself as weak.
Perceptions leaking
insecurities seeping
from one mind to another
from mother to daughter
and daughter to mother.
Generations of unrecognized power.
Repeated patterns of diminished valor.
Worth lost to
winds of disconnect
sweeping through our intellect.
Confusion to panic
in just a split second
of time.
Courage surrenders to the doubts of the mind.
The cold cell walls
dripping with negative self-talk;
a familiar suffering
this pitiful weeping
over what is known.
Conclusions as steel bars,
the cynic has it so hard.
Berating others for having selfish motives
not daring to look in the mirror
and accept that wonder lives
in the hearts of the selfless
humans that exist when
disinterest turns to curiosity
conflict transforms into a possibility
to find peace.
We are here to seek,
not have.
The life of a nomad
wandering about not knowing
where they’re going
but never lost
and never rationalizing the cause
but understanding the effect.
No use for regrets
or blame
we’re all here, just the same.
Sacs of flesh and bone
reconciling our “yes’s” and “no’s”
making mistakes
living for the sake
of being here.
Whether or not that’s clear,
it’s truth.
Energy carries on from youth
becoming stagnant in places when
victimization sets in.
The belief of being inherently evil
can lead one to making it real.
Are we murderers because we’re capable?
Rapists because we’re able?
Victims because we’re not stable
enough to grasp
multiple concepts at once?
In the era of information,
we become limited by the knowledge
of who we think we are
in relation to this world.
Patriarchy has us good.
Submission to higher authority
herded along with the majority
blissful ignorance
in abundance;
free for all
domesticated livestock
mistaking escapist behavior
with freedom.
We are our own savior
once we leave them–
oppression is conditioned
but we are living evolution!
Capable of revolution
security is an illusion
providing comfort for the delusional
too scared to move at all
cause the world might fall
if we think too much.
Don’t be afraid of thoughts,
especially not
the freeing ones.
Empower the victim
that haunts your dreams!
Learn from the child
letting out the terrorized screams.
