Keep In Touch

There’s this dread
Of living on our own,
Of being home alone,
Of feeling half-dead.

We looked after mum,
But my aunts complain
That life’s not the same,
And they’re feeling glum.

My uncle too,
Living on his own,
Sits by his phone,
But calls are so few.

My dad’s in care,
Not far away,
We visit on Sundays.
He’s happy there,

With friends he has made,
All in the same boat,
No longer remote,
His fees are all paid.

So let’s keep in touch
And get back together
With each other,
It’s not asking much,

Before we’re all gone,
And not yet forgotten,
And hope we’re forgiven
For wrongs we have done.
