Words

Gather them in,
Those abundant words,
Gather them in,
And juggle them up and down,
And round and round,
Let them fall,
Let them rise,
But gather them in,
If you can,
Those reluctant words,
That swim in your head,
In such freedom of being,
And freedom of thought,
Like Innocence itself unaware
Of the mind of Man
Preparing a plan
To make a scan,
To nail those words
To the page of life,
Imprisoned forever
Between straight lines
Gathered in at last
For a meaning to find.
So that 'work’ or 'gold’
Can be defined
And conquered of course
By being refined
From words gathered in,
Those abundant and reluctant words
That put us all in a spin.
