"Little Bumper"

"Poor Little Bumper"

There’s a wee little Bumper,
A sidewalk toe-stumper,
And he’s sitting like “Thumper”
On the edge of a step.

He knows where he’s head’n,
but he’s still got the lead in,
So it takes extra care
To steer a course there.

He tries very hard
And his legs know the weight,
But reactions lack timing
And untamed is his gate.

His direction is set.
Is he ready? ... Not yet.
Then he’s off like the wind
In a canyon, boxed in.

He’s a wee little Bumper
In a happy-face shirt,
But no smiles on Bumper,
'cause Bumper got hurt!

Ah, poor little Bumper.
We won’t kiss that bump well
'cause on his seat-covers
Is where Bumper fell.
