So-Cal-Blues

Wind-chimes dancing in the breezes
Composing tunes to the many gusts of wind.
I would like it to be,
But really, I cannot see
That this winter is going to be my friend.

It’s dry here, caused by Santa Ana winds,
And the rain only falls when it pleases.
The word rain, for this region, is too bold
It’s more like an elephant with a cold.
For we only see moisture when it sneezes.

My Winter-blooming Bush can’t hold a flower
And it is a sad situation, day by day.
Each time a bloom comes about
The wind knocks it out
Then it lies on the ground and rots away.

Yes, it’s winter in Southern California
And I guess that my complaints should not be.
There are many things to do, if you’d like to play,
And you can drive to your choice in one day;
To the mountain’s snow, the lakes, or the sea.

But the fact is, there is always stipulations
And restrictions beat me down like a drummer.
For you see? It is winter, and I can’t drive
To the mountains where my soul comes alive;
Having a Cast on your leg can be a bummer.
