In my Fantasy

“In my Fantasy I see a fair world,
Where everyone lives in peace and honesty
In my Fantasy I see a bright world,
Where each night there is less darkness... ”

These words of a song are nice
They represent the wish of the child in me
The child who wishes for peace, for care
For safety– the things she never knew.

In the evening of my life I ask myself now
What is it what I want. Can I even come to know it?
Sometimes still I want to escape, as 'nobody cares’
Yet the path with Christ means reality, now and here

I do not want what my fantasy can show me
I want life with all that is and all that can be
It means growing, dying, budding, bearing fruit
It means pain and laughter, hardship and rest

“The world is more full of weeping than you can understand”
Yeats was not right in that. We all understand weeping,
We know about the pain, the tears and desperation
So I replace those words of the great poet with my truth

‘The world is more full of Love than we can understand’
Indeed there is so much that we do not understand
A child who wishes endless dry hot summer days
Does not understand the essential importance of rain.

Nella Fantasia– I replace my fantasy world
Start to forgive myself, my want for safety
My guilt that I did not protect my sister and me
The world is full of Love– one day we will understand
