I Have Walked Many Paths

I have walked many paths.
Some have been dark and deep within a forest canopy.
Some have been sunny and in a warm breeze.
Some full of rocky rugged hills.
Some have been frigid and in blistering wind chills.
I have walked paths with others and I have walked paths alone.
I have walked paths that were under such an intense sun.
I have walked some through unbelievable rainfall.
Some of my paths have been dead ends.
Each path has been an experience, a lesson.
Some have been lonely and some have been accompanied.
Some paths have difficult and trying, some paths have been fun and full of laughter.
Each fork in the path I face leaves a decision to be made, this way or that way.
Sometimes I like my choice and sometimes I question my own judgment.
Never the less, each path teaches me something.
The path I am walking now is unclear to me, there are so many cobwebs.
I feel hope when I see light, but it is fleeting and gone fast.
I work so hard to climb these hills only to find myself going down to a valley on the other side.
I shiver when cold and sweat when hot.
I get wet through the rain and I dry off in the sun.
But I keep walking; I walk each path and keep going forward.
I do not know what lies ahead, but I will face that when it comes.
For now I either bear the elements or bask in them. But I experience everything and learn from it.

(2014)

A lonely time for me, a reflection of choices made in love and life.
