I Remember

About Marie

I remember first meeting you in the alley behind your friend’s house in rainy weather; I remember feeling anxious trying to play it cool in my leather. I am not sure why, but there was quite a bit of anticipation of us meeting in that small crew, you were just getting over the flu. I can’t recall what you were wearing for it was at your face and eyes that I kept staring. I remember kissing goodbye on the corner of your block, the smile I wore as I took my walk. I remember that night we were in bed together, so young and too scared altogether. I remember rekindling after a few years had passed, but once again it didn’t last. I remember parking on the river road, until the police car showed. Those adventures along the river bank, your dad’s beer that I drank. Nobody kissed quite like you, something I never outgrew. Nobody in my arms ever felt so ideal, no one ever had so much appeal. I can still recall the way you tasted when we kissed, those soft lips that I couldn’t resist. I remember because you were my first love, everyone after that I placed you above.
