My Soul

The landscape, once budding with life and new beginnings,
Now stretches like a coyote, brown and grey.
It is hungry, thirsting for water, and its feelings,
For it has none, constantly searching for its prey.

Yet, look at the sky and its wonders!
With such radiance and joy, it fills
Every morning and evening with shimmers.
But during the day... it is just as plain as the hills.

Oh, what can I rely on to give purpose and hope?
The stars only come out at night but hide
Behind the clouds as if I am not worthy to cope.
Bitterness and grief have become my bride!

This is not what I want to live with.
With every passing day feeling the same thing,
Living with the same demons, I writhe!
My life seems to be hanging by a string.

No! Stop it I plead to myself. You are making
This all up! You know there is a foundation
Strong enough to stop this shaking!
He can stop this dreadful tribulation!

He has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Rely on Him and you will not be disappointed.
Christ the LORD who died on the cross!
With Him, life, joy, hope, and purpose ahead!
