This Destiny

I am the calm before the storm
Far from anything you would deem the norm
Your hands can’t hit what your eyes can’t see
To not acknowledge me is pure ignorant blasphemy

Drink eternally from the fountain of desire
Inside my heart is an eternal fire
Known to burnout any doubt or failure
Only I can be my destinies savior

I want to come out of life’s game unscathed
My debt to the devil and God paid
For those who do not crave greatness are weak
A sear next to the greats of the universe
I seek.

The rules of life are unfair and unjust
My desire for victory, a dangerous lust
Like the unknown fate of two hopeful lovers
My destiny I am still to uncover

Let me be known until the ends of oblivion
Let my joys and smiles be in the millions
For the stabs of life may not be malicious
Feasting on hypocrisy, as if it were delicious

For I am not conceited, only convinced
Since my creation, and ever since
Will I live to see an eternity of new days?
Legacy is one of the few, surefire ways

(2014)

A classic AABB poem. A poem inspired by the idea of destiny, and the theory that you can control it. This poems two lines have taken inspiration by two of Muhammad Ali's many quotes.
