I Look To You

Written for every mother figure, that has chosen to surmount the boundary held by the title friend and to take someone in.

Every child  needs a mother, no title of man to put above her
someone to be an example, and  to look up to
on the days where shadows of doubt triumph over the suns mighty rays
I was lifted by the kind heart, because the loved it showed deemed true
and the strength of your embrace thank god I never out grew
always giving the love I needed, If nothing else I always knew
whenever I lost my way, I could look to you

you accepted me with open arms, something you didn’t have to do
to shape and mold, ignite the light in my soul
so my true brilliance could shine through
you shoulder was there, you wiped my tears with care
though no one asked you to
whenever I lost my way, I knew that I could look to you

(2014)

Just a poem of acknowledgement and appreciation to those mother figures, to let them know no deed is taken lightly, as for show of mercy we are ever grateful.
