Lady Admiration

Oh Lady, Lady so fair,
with your full pink lips
and your light brown hair.
Your name is scattered through
my lover's memory;
the mystery of you
that I long to draw closer to me
until yours is my reality.

Your height rises above my head,
giving me the impression
that you are older,
that you can protect me.
And I long for that safety...
That safety
contained within your surroundings.

I wonder if you have
ever experienced pain like I have,
have lived
through trauma like I have.
I wonder if you’ve loved
like I have...
If you’ve taken risks like I have.

From your writing it seems,
you long to experience more
of the unknown..
The unknown that is my home.
And from my dreams,
I understand that I long
to know the comfort
that you belong to.
In my dreams,
you get to know me
and I get to know you.

The last time I admired a woman
the way in which I admire you,
was before I first had my heart broken,
before the lies had spoken.
Indeed, it was my older sister;
a goddess to me.
I always longed to be in her vicinity
like I now long to be in yours.

No, it is not
more than admiration.
But the admiration
provokes such strength
of emotion and longing;
A longing to be like you
And to create for myself as you do.
To surround myself within the comfort
of a permanent home,
To learn what it’s like
to no longer feel alone.
If only for just a moment,
I get to be like you,
then I can have what I need
for my life to continue.
