Awakened

journey, trials, sorrow, life, love

I was living a lucid dream,
I was coming apart at the seams.
I did what I could to control change,
Yet life was set to re-arrange.
I held fast to the world I knew,
All that I thought was true.
But a hurricane came in to spin me around;
Leaving me bruised, with a broken crown.
I’ve been awakened through my fear,
To what is important and dear,
And to the promise I owe myself;
To never again lay my heart upon a shelf.
I’ve been awakened through  my pain,
And the curse of life’s disdain.
I’ve been awakened to a road I must travel,
A twisted dark road of gravel.
It is through suffering in which we learn who we are.
And when we’ve overcome our demons, we’ve come far.
When what doesn’t break you evolves your mind,
Life’s treasures you will find.
I was awakened from my slumber,
No longer will emptiness encumber
My mind and soul with chains,
Because I am in control of the reins.
