Girl Colored Red

Me, Self, Portrait, Anger, Sorrow, Hurt

I know a girl colored red,
Fire woven throughout her head.
Rage built from sadness,
Loneliness leads to madness.
She treads softly still,
Knowing the limits of her will.
She battles demons every day,
As she falls to her knees yet again to pray.
I know a girl colored red,
Who tosses every night in bed.
Who is softer than the dance of fire,
Who cries every night from the sins of a liar.
She twists and spins through a world of thorns,
Love and respect she regretfully mourns.
Sometimes their words and ways get in,
And that is when she sees red again.
She loves too hard, too true, too pure,
For those treating her so demure.
It breaks her down and throws her back,
It puts her on the attack.
No matter what, they will break her heart.
No matter what, it will tear her apart.
She feels too much to live by their side.
She hurts so much that she just wants to hide,
She will burn a bridge to spare her pain.
She will give up her will to explain. (2016)C.L.L.
