I Am But A Girl

Me, Love, Faith, Journey, Life, Girl

I am but a girl,
Afraid of the world.
I wear my heart,
On my sleeve torn apart.
I run with the wind,
Without regard to where I’ve been.
I follow the sky,
And golden wings that fly.
I look to the sun,
With my feet bare I run.
Untamed in my mind,
I never know what I’ll find.
My voice soft and true,
Eyes of knowing and blue.
Legs stumble along,
Speaking my praise in song.
I am but a girl,
Trapped in an oyster like a pearl,
Locked in a cage like a bird,
Routine seems absurd.
I try to stray from my little white room,
Weave my own pattern in life’s loom.
I fight to stay awake in the dark,
I fumble to make my own mark.
I am learning everyday,
To follow the signs that light the way.
I pray that I my learn from my past,
To understand enlightenment comes not fast. (2016) C.L.L.
