I Sing A Story

Love, Journey, Life, Faith

I sing a sad story,
Of loss and of glory.
I’ve been but a sparrow all my life,
Encumbered by great strife.
I’ve had dreams come true,
Only to have them torn into.
I’ve heard love’s answered prayer,
Only to be left alone in despair.
I sing of scorched wings,
And broken things,
Of little girl dreams,
Fallen apart at the seams.
I sing of new beginnings,
And fairy-tale endings,
Of dreams molded in the sands,
A life built by these hands.
I sing a sad story some days,
Others I sing songs of praise.
I have been crushed into dirt,
Believe me I know how you hurt.
I’ve filled my well with endless tears,
Held prisoner by my fears.
I’ve been drowned in sorrows so deep,
That my soul fell back asleep.
I am wiser from the fall,
The heaven’s attain my heart’s call.
I’ll crash again to the ground,
I’ll brush the dust off and look around.
I’ll get back up and walk another mile,
And in my eyes I’ll hold a smile.
No one may ever understand my story,
But I’ll still sing my song of loss and of glory. (2016)C.L.L.
