She Rages On

She smokes her cigarette at noon,
Her hopes tied to a freed balloon.
She thinks of what she has that is lost,
And if it was worth the cost.
But she rages on...
And love is all just one big con.
Her heart burns with a scorching pain,
Her eyes they sting from the burning rain.
She moves forward toward the light of dawn,
Forevermore down her road she rages on.
He’s left her with so little choice,
But every time her throat chokes her voice.
Pitched camp at a crossroads,
Her choice is set aflame by her load.
She cuts a path between her chore,
She’ll walk cautiously at what lies before.
