When I Sit Down

When I sit down to spill out some words,
My heart flies as free as the birds.
When I sit down and pour out my soul,
I fill the parts of me that are un-whole.
When I sit down and think of your voice,
I remember I had no choice.
When I sit down and think of your face,
I am swept away to another place.
When I sit down to ponder my way,
I look ahead to a bright new day.
When I sit drown to think of the past,
I wonder why things couldn’t last.
When I sit down and rain my tears,
I release all my troublesome fears.
When I sit down with a heavy heart,
I ponder why we had to part.
When I sit down to think of you,
I color my world a maddening blue.
When I lay down and think of us,
By morning it’s all turned to dust.
