You And Me

Lies, deceit, love, stories, life, broken, truth, honesty

Once upon a time,
I gave you my heart.
Once upon a time,
You tore it apart.
I bared my soul to you,
I shared my dreams, sins and fears.
And you let me drown in the blue,
You made my heart rain tears.
You helped enlighten me,
But with humility, fear and pain.
The truths you hid, I could not see...
Nor the lies that poured down like rain.
I gave you my everything,
I made your house a home.
And never did I roam.
Yet every day in every way...
I always felt I wasn’t enough,
But on myself I was too rough.
All of my colors may not be bright,
Yet I never hid them from your sight.
Every time that you have lied,
I’ve collected a little piece of doubt.
With each piece my heart cried,
And all of my fears were strewn about.
I need to feel secure,
I need a heart that is pure.
How can I love freely,
When you have betrayed me?
How can I feel passion,
When I can’t even fathom,
Who you are.
The distance between our hearts is far.
Every day that you lay down your lies upon me,
Every day that you hide your secrets from my mind...
Is a day when I long to be free,
Free from the chains that bind.
How can I love without trust?
Aren’t truth and honor a must?
How can I trust someone who pretends?
It is honesty that true love transcends. ~c.l.l./Fatima Amal (2016)
