Bluebonnets

The roadsides gleam in morning splendor

Robed in the blooming garb of spring

Bluebonnets, flowers of every imaginable color

A rainbow tapestry; the bees are murmuring!

Frantically, I searched for heaven’s door

For something so beautiful can’t be fleeting

Sadly! Gone by summer’s end or e'en before

If spring’s no more; the dog days are coming!

But the blossoms will be back come what may

Early next year; so we hope, and so we pray

My fourth poem of the spring series. The phrase "Robed in the blooming garb of spring" has been lifted from an Adventist song...
