Jewels

She peeked into the room lit dimly

And in tiptoes, she moved cautiously

Not wanting to wake up the baby

She stared at her ever so lovingly

Teary-eyed and overwhelmed with joy

For in this life, how can she be so lucky?

And she held her tiny fingers in her hand

Like jewels, they’re worth all the world’s money!

I am not a mother, but I'm sure this describes how she feels every time she looks at her baby. The picture above is of my grandaughter born last September
