It’s mid-April glorious spring in full bloom
Hydrangeas roses red and violets blue
Radiant flow’rs wiping away winter gloom
Blossoms matching the rainbow’s every hue!
Sadly, in Kyiv no flowery gardens
Deserted streets rubble and burnt-out cars
Just because of a war that makes no sense
That for years will leave indelible scars
Still, time shall heal the war’s devastation
Perhaps when the aggressor’s gone for good
Amongst the rubble a white carnation
Will bloom to augur peace and brotherhood
